Watermilon Curry



Tarkari (Curry) out of watermelon skin (Kharbuja or Tarbuja)

 

Summer is here and we eat lots and lots of Watermelon.

We enjoy watermelon and only few of us might know we can make a delicious curry out watermelon’s skin. Welcome to Watermelon-world ……

Here is the recipe of watermelon skin curry. (Kharbuja or tarbuja ko bokra ko tarkari)

 

Utensils

 

Big bowl

Vegetable Peeler

Big cooking pan

Serve : 3-5

 

Ingredients

 

Skin of one big watermelon

Turmeric – half table spoon

Salt -as your taste

Coriander powder- 1 table spoon

Cumin powder-1 table spoon

Red chili powder- half tablespoon

Cumin seed – a pinch

Thyme seed- a pinch

Fenugreek seed- a pinch

Dried red chili – 2 piece

Oil- one table spoon

 

Method

 

Peel the green part of the skin of the watermelon
 

Cut into small pieces and wash the watermelon pieces

 
Heat the pan
 
Put oil in the pan, when the oil is hot put thyme seed, cumin seed, dried red chili Fenugreek seed
 
When they turn red add the cut watermelon
 
Put Turmeric and salt
 
Cover and cook it for several minutes. You will see a lot of water in the cooked watermelon
 
Keep on cooking till all the water dries.
 
Add red chili, cumin and coriander powder and mix it properly
 
After few minutes take the pan off the heat
 
Add coriander leaf for garnishing

 

 
Watermelon curry is ready to serve
