Moong Dal Halwa is a rich, creamy and pudding-like dessert. Made with
split yellow moong dal. This is a popular and delicious dessert for the
winter season.
How to make Moong Halwa
Utensils
Big pan 1 (I prefer thick bottom to fry moong dal)
Small pot (to make sugar surup)

Moong dal- half cup
Ghee- half cup
Sugar - half cup
Cardamom powder-5 to 8
Saffron a Pinch
Water-2 cups
Sliced almonds (for garnish)-1 tablespoon

Method Wash moong dal thoroughly and soak in water until it becomes soft Drain the water In a blender blend moong dal into thick paste (adding as less water as you can) In a pan boil 1 cup of water and 2 cups of sugar to make sugar syrup Heat for 3 to 4 minutes and remove from heat Add cardamom powder and saffron stir it well and set aside to cool In a pan heat the ghee and add moong dal paste Mix it well Let it cook in medium heat until fully cook Gently press and fold the paste over again and again When the texture becomes grainy and light brown in color it gives sweet, mild aroma, the smell indicates it is cooked Now turn on the heat to low and add sugar syrup little by little The syrup will splatter as you are add Now cover it and cook for 2-3 minutes more Remove cover and stir Cook for one more minutes then turn off the heat Garnish with almonds Halwa will turn out to be thick after some time Moong halwa tastes best if served warm Enjoy...!!! |
