Spicy Nepali Potato Curd Salad Pickle

How to make Chukauni

Chukauni  is a spicy potato yogurt salad. It is typical Nepali pickle generally prepared and very famous in the western region mainly in Palpa district.
 

Utensils Chukauni

Pan
Bowl 

Ingredients

Oil- 2 tablespoons
Fenugreek seeds-   1/2 teaspoon 
Cloves -3-4 
Green chilies chopped-3-4
Turmeric -a pinch 
Chopped onion - 1/2
Cumin - 1/2 tablespoon
Szechuan pepper Timur  (optional)- 1/8 tablespoon
Red chili Powder - 1/2 tablespoon
Coriander powder- 1/2 Tablespoon
Black pepper -a pinch
Garam masala -a pinch 
Plain yogur-1 cup 
Chopped cilantro 1 tablespoon

Method

Boil and peel potatoes

Cut into minimum sized chunks

Add pinch of salt and a squeeze of lemon juice (to quickly season potatoes)

Add 2 tablespoons of cooking oil fry fenugreek seeds, garlic, green chilies, and turmeric until the fenugreek seed turns brown

Add to the potato mix

Add the rest of the ingredients to the bowl and mix

You can add as little or as much yogurt as you would like depending on personal preference, although I think less yogurt is better than more

Chukauni is ready to serve...!!!
