Laxmi Pooja Bidhi
According to Hindu Holy epics, goddess Laxmi is the daughter of rishi Bhrigu. When gods were sent to exile by the demons she took refuge in the ocean of milk. She was found during “Samundra Manthan”. Goddess Laxmi is believed to be the goddess of good fortune, wealth, beauty, and light. It is said the blessing of Laxmi is always with those who do hard work.
Goddess Laxmi loves cleanliness and purity. Therefore, it is very important to keep your house clean and pure during laxmi puja (and even always as possible). It is believed that goddess Laxmi visits those houses, which are very clean and pure shining with burning lights.
We especially clean and mop the house with cow dung & red soil to make it pure and clean. We take bath and wear clean cloths. We then offer flower, specially cooked food (naibedya), fruits, Turmeric (haledo), red color powder (abir) and sandal paste (keshari) to goddess laxmi and worship her on the night of laxmi puja. Then we lit up our house inside and out in order to light up the path goddess Laxmi comes to our house.
