About Nepali Language
Nepali is official language of Nepal. It is also spoken in Myanmar, Bhutan and some parts of India. Nepali is recognized as official language of Darjeeling and Sikkim in India.
Nepali language was first called Khaskura and then Parbatiya and Gorkha language. Later it was called Nepali. The name Nepali was said to be derived from Newari. Newari is a regional language of Nepal, mostly spoken by Newar community around Kathmandu Valley. Newari is also called Nepa Bhasa.
Nepali is a language in the Indo-Aryan branch.
Nepali use Devanagari script. The Nepali language was nourished by Bhanu Bhakta Acharya (regarded as first poet of Nepali language), and later by Motiram Bhatta, Lekhnath Poudel, Laxmi Prasad Devkota, Balkrishna Sama and other great poets and literary figures.
