Prime Minister of Nepal - Chief Justice Khil Raj Regmi


Khil Raj Regmi has been appointed as Prime Minister of Nepal in March 2013. He has been serving as Cheif Justice of Supreme Court of Nepal since May 2011.

He took his oath of PM on March 14, 2013 in front of President Ram Baran Yadav.

Khil Raj Regmi was born in Palpa on May 31, 1949. He started his early job career as an Officer of the Supreme Court of Nepal for 1972 to 1974. He later appointed as district judge in various district courts of Nepal during 1974 to 1985.

He got promoted to Deputy Registrar (Gazetted 1st Class Officer) in the Supreme Court 1991.



He served in various position in judicial authorities of Nepal. He became a judge of the Supreme Court in 2003.  He became Chief Justice on May 6, 2011. He was serving as Chief Justice of Supreme Court when he took his Prime Minister's office.

UCPN (Maoist) party proposed Regmi as a leader of election government to hold fresh Constituent Assembly polls.

All major political parties came to consensus to form a constitution election government under Chief Justice's leadership on February 2013. The agreement between the political parties stated that an eleven-member interim election government will be formed to hold elections by the earliest.

Mr Khil Raj Regmi is married to Shanta Regmi and have 3 children. He studied Master of Arts and Bachelor's of Law from Tribhuvan University.

Mr Regmi has been awarded by various awards including;
